Living your life a slave to the system is just sad, yet the majority of people who work in jobs and are owned by their employment never break free from the chains and are doomed to work 5 days a week for the rest of their lives.
But why? Why don’t people keep looking for that better opportunity, why don’t people go that little extra distance to upskill or upgrade their lifestyle?
In this blog I will get a little more personal with my thoughts on working for someone else, why it’s a good thing, why it is a bad thing, and how ANYONE can indeed better their situation and break free from the chains of employment.
Find out how you can create your very own niche website in any passion, hobby, or niche, that generates passive online income.

What Is A Slave To The System?
A slave to the system is anyone working in a job that pays wages in exchange for their time, effort, energy, and health.
The issue with this is that at the end of the week, fortnight, or month you get your payslip, pay your bills, like rent, power, food, insurance, and if you are lucky, you have some left over.
You can prepare to do it again for the next 1, 5, 10, 20, or even 50 years.
This is how I would describe someone who is a slave to the system and unfortunately, this will be the majority. But don’t fear, there is a way out.
If you read till the end I will explain how you can build a passive online income from home, in any niche, that can lead you to quitting your job and escaping the 9 – 5 rat race.
Is Working For Someone Else A Good Thing?
There is absolutely nothing wrong with working for someone else if you can see a light at the end of the tunnel.
More often than not people get caught up in that comfort zone of having that weekly wage available, and motivation to carry on up the ladder dwindles to a halt.
Main reasons why employment is good:
- Income: People need income to pay for food, rent, power, etc.
- Networking: Being employed by someone else can offer multiple networking opportunities. This can be in the form of promotions, meeting other work colleagues, other contractors, and businesses.
- Keeps us busy: Keeping busy and active in any way is a good thing. It is healthy and helps stimulate the brain.
Why Working For Someone Else Is Bad

In most cases working for someone else and being a slave to the system will never allow you to escape the rat race.
This is because our time is being sacrificed every week for just enough money to get by, and this vicious circle will never end.
Main reasons why working for someone else is bad.
- You are making someone else rich off your efforts.
- You are building someone else’s dream, not yours.
- You will never really be appreciated, and the faster you realize you are just a number or a replaceable part of your manager’s operation, the better.
- You will never get ahead financially. You may feel appreciated when and if you get a $1-an-hour pay rise, but this will make no difference in the big picture, and you will still be getting taxed on this.
- When you get a pay rise, your boss’s expectations increase, and so do your responsibilities and workload.
- You are owned for 5 days a week. Get up when you have to, and go home when you are allowed.
- Health and mental stress. News flash…Your bosses don’t care. If you injure yourself and can no longer work, you will be wiped off the board and replaced within a matter of days/weeks.
- Little by little, your self-worth and confidence get taken away, and you become reliant on your employment for money, support, and help. This can all get taken away as soon as you become obsolete or more of a liability. Then you are on your own.
- Your life gets put on hold, and you don’t live life on your terms.
- Little by little, you are substituting days off your life for someone else. You are sacrificing your time doing what other people want or demand.
What Schools Teach Us
Don’t get me wrong, we need schools to teach our kids, unfortunately, what we are teaching them is not the best way to live life.
From an early age, we get to go to school, around 5 in New Zealand.
Here we are taught the basics of reading, writing, maths, games, etc… this is great.
Now we move from primary school to high school and we are taught almost the same stuff but a more elaborate version.
We are also asked what we want to be and told we need to study or go to university to be on the big bucks.
For many going to University, some do get jobs with ok incomes, some don’t get jobs doing what they studied, and settle for any job they can find.
All in all, almost all of you will have university debt, and all of you will be working in a job that sacrifices your time for money.
PASSIVE INCOME IS KEY TO YOUR FREEDOM!
Schools Teach Us To Slave To The System
I don’t believe schools are preparing our kids for the best future they can have.
I have two kids, both who are at school, and both usually come home with nothing to talk about as far as what they have learned at school.
Schools are not including subjects that should be mandatory and useful in today’s world.
What Schools should teach:
- How to deal with stress: There are way too many suicides and stressed-out people on this planet. We all deal with stress on a daily basis, but how we handle this is crucial. However, this is not taught at schools.
- How to grow food, Cook, & Clean: Eating is rather important, and knowing how to grow our own food in any way, shape, or form, is a good thing. Maintaining a healthy eating habit and a healthy eating environment, your body will thrive.
- How to budget: Most people’s spending habits are off the hook, and I see this on a daily basis. If people knew the consequences later on in life for all the little amounts they spent on rubbish or impulse products.
- How to get a mortgage or spot financial opportunities: The ability to spot ways of making extra money to fast forward our success can be taught. Understanding money, how it works, and getting a mortgage for your first home, etc.
- How to save a life: First aid is barely touched on in schools these days, and if it is once or twice a year, many people forget almost instantly without having to do the procedures on a daily or weekly basis. I am not talking about heart transplants, just the basics +.
- How to build passive income: I wish I was taught this at school. After 15 years in the concrete industry, and a stuffed back to go with it, I now make passive money online through affiliate marketing, and there is no better way to earn a living and get the freedom to do the things you want.
- How to better ourselves and self-worth: We are all capable of success, no matter what your idea of success is. With inspiration, dedication, and support, people can accomplish anything.
How To Stop Being A Slave To The System

There are loads of ways to escape the 9 – 5 work system and escape being a slave to the system, but it all starts with you.
Building or generating passive income can be done in many ways. Some will be instant, and some will require initial work or outlay.
It will take effort, hard work, time, and in some cases a little money, but I can tell you firsthand hand it is worth it.
Passive income for me, is online through what we call affiliate marketing. This can be started for free, and done from home.
All you need is a computer and the Internet.

Other passive income ideas can include:
- Buying Caravans or Cabins to Rent Out: I have seen this done in person and it is a great way to make extra cash, although you will need a small investment for your first caravan. Once you rent out the first one, that money goes towards the second, and so on.
- Growing Plants from Cuttings and Seeds: Most people can get hold of containers to grow plants in, and cuttings or seeds can be found for free. This is a long-term investment, but as a business, it can bring in good money. People love buying established plants.
- Real Estate: Your first home is the hardest, but if you run your home as a business and keep investing wisely, you can generate passive income.
- Car Rentals: If you have a vehicle you don’t mind renting out, this is a great way to bring in passive income.
- Affiliate Marketing: Building Websites That Earn Money 24/7 (This is what I do).
Anything you can sink initial work and/or money into and then step back and not be directly involved while it earns revenue is considered passive income.
Summary: Stop being A Slave To The System
Everyone is capable of creating passive income online or offline, it comes down to drive, and the willingness to go outside your comfort zone to do what needs to be done.
Get motivated, upskill however you can, and start thinking about ways to create and generate passive income. This will allow you to earn money while you do the things you love.
It can take a while to build up enough passive income to be able to throw in the towel at work, however, this is better than working all your life for someone else.
There is a saying I like that goes: “Go and build your own dream, Or someone else will hire you to build theirs”
This is 100% true.
